NMPR's New Direction

Direction Some of you noticed that I took a break from blogging for a little while, and you sent emails and instant messages, left comments, and even wrote a blog post. So here's the deal... real life stuff happens and when it does, it has to be taken care of.

Social media doesn't happen in a vacuum. And especially blogs, which are so much a reflection of the people behind them, represent windows into what's going on behind the scenes, whether through the topics we write about, the words we use, the comments we leave, or a bunch of other ways. So thank you to everyone who's reached out lately. You know who you are, and you represent the true meaning of friendship. And when we get together next time, dinner's on me.

I'm also taking New Millennium PR in a new direction. I've always said that those of us in the communications field have an obligation to use our talents and skills not just on behalf of our clients, but also to raise awareness and effect positive change. And social media gives us an unprecedented opportunity to spotlight important stories -- stories out there begging to be told -- and draw attention to people who deserve our recognition because they're doing amazing things.

So, in addition to the PR topics I've written about in the past and will continue to cover -- as well as an increased focus on best practices and issues affecting the industry -- one of my goals is to include interviews, video footage and original reports. Citizen journalism at its best, as Evelyn Rodriguez talks about, and what Kevin Sites calls "a nexus of backpack journalism, narrative story-telling techniques, and the Internet..."

I'll try to mix it up with some fun stuff too, so no slamming me for being silly once in a while.

It's great to be back.

Welcome back! I have wondered, and even tried calling.

Give me a shout -- (and still no news on my end.)

Welcome back, Andrea! :)

You were missed. I like the new things you are going to do. Your site is already a great one. Talk soon.

Mike

It's great to have you back Andrea.

Already looking forward to the new stuff. Loved the Kevin Sites quote by the way.

Andrea ... I've been waiting for you to post again but I figured you just needed a break, as we all do from time to time. Welcome back! I've missed your thoughts and insights.

Have to admit you had me wondering if my RSS feeds had given up on me... Hope everything's well and glad to read you again!

Nothing wrong with taking a blog break, or with being silly! I've had a couple of blogs go off my radar from time to time, and it turns out they mysteriously got deleted off my feed reader (my subconscious telling me I read too many blogs?).

Glad to see I don't have to fix anything on my end. And welcome back to the neverending conversation.

Well done Andrea, I look forward to you musings and seeing you in a few weeks.

So is this NMPR 2.0? ;)

Great to have you back!

Nice to have you back, Andrea. Looking forward to the new direction.

Thanks everyone, it's nice to know I was missed.

Yes, I'm hoping to include more down-in-the-trenches stuff, along with an edgier approach. We've already got the "PR Light" angle covered (which I admit I enjoy reading), so I'll lean in the other direction.

Yeah, I guess this makes it NMPR 2.0, along with Andrea 2.0.

Oh man! You're going "2.0" as well? I guess I'll have to slap out that theme change to get to 2.1 ---

Glad you're back, girl! You were missed!!

Yeah, yeah. Take a break and you STILL got more traffic than me.

;-p

Actually, 3 is my favorite number, so I'm hoping that'll come around soon.

And regarding traffic, man, I'm paying the price for having sat out for a while... my Technorati tanked. Oh well.

Welcome back
Greg R

I missed you, too!

Thanks Greg, and I really like your new blog.

Thanks Philip, I feel the love :-)
