Eric Eggertson Admits He's "A Nobody In The Communication Business"

Eric Eggertson admits he's a nobody in the communications business. So along with Allan Jenkins, who Dave Murray, editor of Speechwriter's Newsletter, apparently thinks is also a nobody, that makes two. Aw heck, I'll nominate myself and make it three.

Anyone else care to publicly join in? I know there are a lot of nobodies running around.

UPDATE

Based on the choices offered by Eric Eggertson and in recognition of our international membership, my suggestion is that we officially name this organization The International Association of Nobodies, with Allan Jenkins our chairperson.

A special thanks to Ike Pigott of Accentuate the Positive, 2.0  for the button (e-mail him to get yours).

Here's a round-up of other posts on our illustrious group:

Welcome to the club, Andrea! There are way worse things than being a nobody in the eyes of some people.

David has actually moved on from the Speechwriter's Slant blog at Ragan Communictions to editing the employee communications magazine. The only online bio for him has old info, which was part of my point. Sorry if my post made it confusing about his role there.

Sorry, I reread your piece and see you were referring to the newsletter, not the blog. My bad.

Well, since you and Eric make up 12.5% of my total readership, I guess that makes me a nobody too.

In fact, I expect that I have a bunch of nobodys reading me.

I'm a nobody too, but my goal is to someday work myself up to "vaguely familiar" or "that guy I might have gone to high school with." :-)

If you all are representative, the nobodies are a great group.

Ah but surely you've all heard the expression "Nobody's perfect"? :)

Everyone who declares here they are a "nobody" can e-mail me to get the official button for their site.

Just one question: what are the requirements to be called a nobody? Or is the point of being a nobody exactly that there can be no requirements, since as soon as you meet certain standards you're on your way of becoming somebody? Phew... this is confusing. Can somebody tell me if I'm a nobody or not? On the one hand I'd hate being a nobody, but since nobody's perfect like Sam mentioned I could live with it. But it's a bit silly calling yourself a nobody when that means you're fishing for membership of what seems to be a group of... well, strong personalities. Somebodies in other words. Also, I'm not really fond of false modesty, although I'm often told I am being falsely modest. But what's the other option? Brag? No thanks... Anyway: good luck to all nobodies here!

Also, do nobodies actually meet anywhere?

Serge:

"Can somebody tell me if I'm a nobody or not?" For purposes of the Association, you are. I'm sure that if you want to be apart of this ground-breaking group, you can join.

MTLB:

We're still working out details, but I believe we'll first meet in Copenhagen. As we grow, we'll probaby have yearly meetings around the globe.

Don't forget to load up on your NOBODY! swag at the official store!

I've tried to work out what "nobodyism" is on the blog for the group.
http://allanjenkins.typepad.com/nobody/
when I say "somebodies don't like us, and anybodies ignore us entirely".

If that's your shoe size, you're one of us. Let me know.

I just met Andrea quite by accident, through email, and followed her email address here. I'm glad to see that there are a bunch of other "nobodies" like me, all banding together. I would love to join the group officially and add my 2 (nobody) cents worth ! What do I need to do to be "official"? Count me in as a nobody!
